Tender brief

As part of its response strategy to ash die back, the Council maintains funds to provide free trees to owners of land within Leicestershire to counteract tree loss. The Council is seeking to procure suppliers to fulfil this requirement.

The Contract will be split into two

Lots

Lot 1 - Supply of standards for landscape conservation schemes Lot 2 - Supply of Selected Standards, Heavy Standards and Extra Heavy Standards for general landscape and highways schemes. Containerised

Note that the requirement for Lot 2 is less immediate and purchasing tends to be planned in advance, whereas Lot 1 is an immediate requirement to satisfy the Council's "Free Tree" scheme.

The Term of the contract will be for an initial period of 1 year a further period or number of periods of up to 2 year(s) subject to performance .

Whilst predominantly for use by Leicestershire County Council, the Council may procure Goods on a collaborative basis or on behalf of other public bodies within the county of Leicestershire, including but not limited to City, Borough and District Councils, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Leicestershire Police, Schools, Academies & Universities.

The Council welcomes bids from local providers to help reduce business mileage.

The Council is also keen to appoint Suppliers that have, or are working towards, eliminating usage of peat in their products.
