Tender brief

  • The National Gallery is appointing a Landscape Architect with the capability and capacity to design and support the delivery of landscape, public realm and external works for a new wing to the Gallery, located on Trafalgar Square in central London. The contract will cover RIBA stages 1 - 7 The role of the Landscape Architect will include, as a minimum:
  • Lead and coordinate landscape and public realm design inputs in support of the project brief, architectural intent and wider estate context.
  • Develop landscape design information appropriate to each RIBA Stage, including strategies, drawings, schedules, specifications and coordination information.
  • Coordinate interfaces with the Architect, engineers, specialist consultants and the wider project team, including interfaces with existing site conditions and live operational constraints.
  • Support statutory and technical approvals, including planning and listed building consent processes, highways/public realm approvals where relevant, and engagement with statutory authorities.
  • Support procurement activities, tender queries, design development during contractor procurement and responses to technical clarifications.
  • Provide construction-stage support including site attendance as required, responses to RFIs, inspections, review of contractor proposals, and support to handover, defects and post-completion activities.
